We wanted to make you aware that rumors of a threat against an unknown school started to circulate on social media last night. The Office of Safety and Security, along with the Leesburg Police Department, have investigated and there is no evidence to support the rumor.
We want to reiterate that there are/were no specific threats against any school. We ask that you use this as a way to remind your children to “see something, say something” and that if they hear something they should report it immediately to police, an adult or use the Safe2Talk app. Students should also be reminded not to perpetuate rumors or jokes through social media or gossip. This will allow schools and police to respond more efficiently to safety concerns.
We recognize that with the recent events of gun violence in schools across the country and it also being the anniversary of 9/11, emotions of fear and worry for our children’s safety are at an all time high. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and we take these matters, even rumors, very seriously.
Should you or your students need any support resources at this time, we have mental health professionals available. Students or parents may reach out to SMHSleadershipteam@lcps.org and provide the best phone number to contact you. One of our team members will be in touch within 24 hours.
We are in this together and thank you for your understanding and support of Loudoun County Public Schools. We look forward to seeing your children in school today.
