The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Work Session

Staff presented an update on the activities occurring to develop the FY26 budget. School Board member feedback was requested to help prioritize budget initiatives and provide direction on LCPS’ compensation philosophy.   

The Superintendent’s Recommended FY 2026 through FY 2031 CIP and CAPP budgets was presented to the School Board.  A November 19, 2024, work session is also scheduled as a public hearing for the Board to receive comments on the CIP and CAPP budgets.

The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem were performed by the Arcola Elementary School Chorus.

Superintendent’s Report

Highlights of the report include:

  • One LCPS Celebration Day was a huge success.

  • WorkForce Summit brought together community and business partners.

  • JL Simpson Middle School is the first public school in Virginia to earn Heart Safe Status.

Public Comment

Community members participated in person and virtually to provide the School Board with comments on a range of topics.

Action Items

The Board voted to suspend the rules and moved Information Item MATA Admissions to Action.  The Board approved changing the admissions process for MATA in order to increase accessibility for interested students.

Information Items

The Board discussed several information items, including:

  1. The Board heard information on the FY25 1st Quarter Financial Review and COVID Funds Update.

  2. The Board discussed Revisions of Policy 4030, Non-Locally Funded Programs.

  3. The Board heard information on how the division is utilizing budget funds to retain top talent for the division.

The Board then held a Closed Session and ultimately adjourned for the evening.
