The Virginia Board of Education recognized seven Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) schools for their high achievement as part of its Exemplar School Recognition Program. These schools were among 92 schools across the Commonwealth to receive this recognition. The Highest Achievement Award is based on performance during the 2023-2024 school year.
The LCPS schools that received Highest Achievement Award are:
Aldie Elementary School
Hamilton Elementary School
Hillsboro Charter Academy
Lincoln Elementary School
Loudoun Valley High School
Waterford Elementary School
Woodgrove High School
The criteria for this award are:
The school must be accredited.
The school meets state benchmarks in reading, math and science (75 percent for reading and 70 percent for math and science) based on the current year pass rate on state assessments (not including growth or English Learner progress);
All student groups within the school meet state benchmarks in reading and math (75 percent for reading and 70 percent for math) based on the current year pass rate on state assessments (not including growth or English Learner progress), and
The school demonstrates a current-year chronic absenteeism rate of 15 percent or lower.
For schools with a graduating class, two additional criteria apply:
The school demonstrates a current year Graduation and Completion Index of 88 points or higher and
The school demonstrates a current-year dropout rate of six percent or lower.
