The Loudoun County School Board held a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

Advisory Committee Update

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) provided the School Board with its Quarterly Update.

Work Session

The School Board and staff held an FY 2026 – FY 2031 Capital Budgets Work Session.

Staff presented to the School Board a summary of the 2023-2024 student achievement data and state accountability results. Data included Standards of Learning (SOL), Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), graduation rates, chronic absenteeism rates, SAT results and state accreditation status. Data is shared by the school and reporting group when possible.

Recess Meeting

Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem

The Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem were performed by the Seneca Ridge Middle School Chorus.

Student/Staff Recognitions

One LCPS Spotlight: Transition Program at Lightridge High School. High school transition programs provide accessible pathways for students to participate in specialized educational opportunities and provide workplace readiness skills for students with disabilities. While many of these opportunities occur inside the building, the transition program at Lightridge High School provides career readiness skills both on campus and off campus at local businesses in the Dulles South community.

Superintendent’s Report

Highlights of the report include:

  • Jennifer Haggerty was named the next principal of Cedar Lane Elementary School.

  • The superintendent has scheduled eight Student Success Talks across all eight election districts.

  • Seven LCPS Schools earned the Purple Star Recognition.

The Board discussed several information items, including:

  1. The School Board discussed information from Human Resources and Talent Development (HRTD) on School Calendar Options for the 2026-27 School Year.

  2. The School Board discussed proposed revisions to Policy 8650, Student Technology Acceptable/Responsible Use.

  3. The School Board discussed proposed revisions to Policy 8155, School Assignment.

  4. The School Board discussed information from the Department of Support Services: Transportation Update on Bell Time Studies.
